Glasgow is shining brighter than ever this festive season, cementing its place as Scotland’s ultimate Christmas destination. With an array of sparkling attractions, the city has transformed into the North Star – the beacon of festive fun and the place to be this winter.
Argyle Street has been transformed into Stargyle Street, home to Europe’s longest and most magical Star Tunnel. Symbolising Glasgow as the North Star – the must-visit destination for Christmas – this 20ft tall, 20ft wide and 80ft long immersive attraction stretches along one of the city’s busiest streets, bathing visitors in a canopy of shimmering lights.
Adding to the enchantment is a playful, interactive feature: a special activation button that triggers a stunning "shooting star" effect, sending LED lights racing along the tunnel accompanied by a delightful whooshing sound. Perfect for families, Stargyle Street promises to be one of the most Instagrammable moments of the season.
The iconic City Chambers in George Square takes centre stage with a breathtaking state-of-the-art lighting and projection show provided by 21CC Group. Running nightly from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., the display brings to life enchanting North Pole-inspired themes, whimsical snowy landscapes, and playful designs featuring candy canes and swirling snowflakes. This festive showcase highlights Glasgow’s stunning architecture and fills the square with holiday cheer.
No festive visit to Glasgow is complete without a stop at WinterFest, the city’s largest winter market. Spanning George Square and St Enoch Square, this family-friendly event features delicious food and charming gift stalls, alongside classic attractions like ice skating, a helter-skelter, a carousel, and thrilling rides. WinterFest captures the spirit of Christmas and brings joy to all who visit.
Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren said: “Christmas in Glasgow is always a magical experience especially when shared with family and friends. The festive season is now in full swing. I’d encourage everyone to visit the markets, the tree and see all the sparkling lights in George Square then take a walk through our new star tunnel on Argyle Street adding even more sparkle to Christmas.”
From the dazzling Stargyle Street to the magical City Chambers light show and the family fun of WinterFest, Glasgow is the North Star of Christmas. Follow the lights to experience the most magical festive celebrations in Scotland.
