The prestigious Live Awards took place last night at the legendary east London venue, Troxy, celebrating excellence from across the UK events industry. The annual event celebrates and reflects on the extraordinary achievements of the live entertainment sector over the past year, with Glasgow’s OVO Hydro taking home the Venue of the Year award.
Debbie McWilliams, Managing Director of Strategy and People at the SEC said: “We are thrilled to be named Venue of the Year. This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We are committed to delivering world-class entertainment experiences while prioritising sustainability and innovation.”
The impressive accolade recognises the venue’s exceptional performance across all aspects of live entertainment, from world-class events to sustainability initiatives.
OVO Hydro's 2024 success was marked by a diverse range of over 140 events, from global superstars to local talent, attracting millions of visitors. The iconic WWE Clash at the Castle cemented its position as a global entertainment destination. Beyond music, the venue expanded its programming to include theatre, family shows, and sports events.
Innovative technology, such as an impressive LED Welcome Wall and the newly launched Sky VIP Lounge enhanced the visitor experience. As the first live entertainment venue to achieve A Greener Arena certification, OVO Hydro is a leader in sustainability, reducing its environmental impact through initiatives like energy efficiency and waste reduction.
