Suited & Booted, a bespoke tailors and gents fashion brand which launched in the city earlier this summer has proudly teamed up with Glasgow based charity Men Matter Scotland to create a new initiative that aims to help men prepare for job interviews and dress for success as they enter into new employment.
Suited & Booted is asking its customers, stakeholders and friends of the brand to donate unworn and unwanted suits to the store that will then be gifted to the charity to distribute to its network. In return for donating a suit, each person will be given a £100 voucher to spend on bespoke or ready to wear suits at the store.
Men Matter Scotland was founded in 2019 and it’s mission is to support men’s mental health and wellbeing and prevent suicide. The charity focuses on creating an environment that promotes connection and possibility for those in need , and from its centre in Drumchapel offers weekly group sessions and activities in groups so members can talk to other men who have first -hand lived experience of similar situations, as well as peer to peer sessions and an expert referral service designed specifically for when men are in distress. The vital work the charity does has never been more in demand with over 3,500 men in Glasgow actively using the service.
Suited & Booted, was founded by Scottish entrepreneurs Ryan Smith & Calvin Smith in Dubai in 2017, and the duo opened their first UK store in Glasgow at the beginning of the summer and it was important for them to identify a Glasgow based men's charity that they could support from a grassroots level.
Dillion Aurthur, Managing Director of Suited & Booted Glasgow said: “Since launch we have been lucky to very quickly build up a network of clients and create our own community here in the city and we want to ensure that we use this network to give back and support organisations that are aligned with our own ethos. Creating opportunities and supporting our clients and stakeholders is at the heart of what we do and as we have a predominantly male client base it made sense that our first official charity partner was a charity that supports men and men's mental health has never been more prevalent.
“We instantly clicked with the team at the charity and identified that by helping men look good and feel more confident for interviews and jobs is a really simple and effective way we can make a difference.
“We have lots of ideas and plans for phase two of the partnership and would love to explore how we can use our own entrepreneurial experience and our network to provide practical mentoring sessions.
“We would encourage anyone with old suits that they no longer need or use to bring them into us at our new store in Montrose Street in the Merchant City asap.”
Commenting on the new partnership, Tom Elvin, board chair at Men Matter Scotland said: “We are delighted to be working alongside the team at Suited & Booted on this new initiative. The feedback we have had since we launched on social media has been incredible and simply reinforces the importance of the work we are doing in glasgow. Men use our center and services for many different reasons but ultimately it’s always about ensuring our patrons mental health is a priority as well as helping men build their confidence.
“For those job seeking or re-entering into the workforce after time away, it’s important that they feel good about themselves and by simply helping them dress the part for interviews, we know a simple thing like having a new suit can make such a difference and really boost their self esteem.”
